Austin College Men Fall Short in Comeback Bid

The Austin College men's basketball team trailed by double digits for much of the second half before battling back to get within two in the final moments, but Trinity held off the 'Roos in a 79-75 defeat for AC on Friday night. The 'Roos fall to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the defeat.

Brian Baehl became just the 20th player in Austin College men's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points, scoring all 15 of his points in the game's final seven minutes to lead the comeback bid. The 'Roos trailed 66-53 with 5:15 left in the game, but kept chipping away at the Trinity lead and a three pointer by Jeremy Swisher got it down to a 77-75 game with six seconds left. However, Trinity would knock down a pair of free throws to seal the game.

Swisher scored a team-high 20 points for Austin College, hitting 7-of-12 shots from the field. Baehl added a pair of steals and two assists, and Josh Quinn came off the bench to drill 4-of-6 three pointers and score 12 points. Austin Freet had a game-best 11 rebounds in the loss.
