Two from Men's Soccer Earn SCAC All-Tournament
Austin College men's soccer players Mason Waddell and Andrew Celio have each been named to the SCAC All-Tournament Team.
Two members of the Austin College men's soccer team have been named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team, the league office has announced. Mason Waddell and Andrew Celio received this recognition from the conference coaches.
Waddell, a senior defender from Austin, anchored a defense that allowed just one goal all weekend and shut out the University of Dallas. He also scored his first career goal with a header against UD in the team's first round match on Friday.
Celio, a sophomore goalkeeper from San Antonio, allowed just one goal in nearly 200 minutes in the net, including earning a shut out of Dallas and keeping No. 3-ranked Trinity scoreless until the 108th minute of action in a double-overtime thriller in the semifinals. Celio made 17 saves in the two matches.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
