SHERMAN, Texas – Tori Herrera struck out 13 batters, tossed her second career no-hitter, and broke her own single season Austin College record for strikeouts as the 'Roo softball team swept a doubleheader with Brooklyn College on Thursday night. Austin College won by scores of 9-1 and 13-0 to improve to 7-29 overall on the year.
Austin College got on the board quickly in game one, with Ashley Mayorga singling home a pair of runs and Emily Low bringing home another with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 after the first inning. Brooklyn would get one run back in the second, but four runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run home by Cassidy McDaris, blew the game open for the 'Roos. Austin College would add two more runs in the fourth to make it a 9-1 final via the 5-inning mercy rule.

Mayorga added a sacrifice fly and Van Kirk brought home two more runs with a single through the left side.
Herrera didn't walk any batters and needed only 57 pitches to get the no-hitter, with 50 of those pitches going for strikes. Van Kirk finished 2-for-3 with four RBI, and Mayorga and Ratzer each went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in to pace Austin College.
