TYLER, Tex. - In a battle of two West-Region Ranked Teams, the Austin College Kangaroos fell to the UT-Tyler Patriots 8-1 in Tyler, TX.
With Line 1 and Line 3 doubles falling 8-5 and 8-3 respectively, the doubles competition hung in the balance with an epic Line 2 match for Grace Ortiz & Melody Duong. UT-Tyler took home the win at 2nd Doubles 9-8 (9-7) and completed the sweep against Austin College going into singles competition.
The Kangaroos dropped Lines 1 and 2 in straight sets, clinching the match for the Patriots. But Anna Sergiovanni prevented the sweep by claiming a 6-0, 7-6(5) victory at Line 3 for the first team point of the day. Chandler Morris took the first set at Line 4, but was not able to close out the match, falling 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3) in a super-tiebreaker for the third set.
Austin College is back on the courts same day in Longview, TX on the campus of LeTourneau University. The match against the YellowJackets is set to begin at 4:00pm.
