Hernandez Named SCAC Hitter of the Week
Austin College softball player Sophia Hernandez has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office has announced.
Austin College softball player Sophia Hernandez has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office has announced.
Hernandez, a freshman pitcher and infielder from Irving, had a monster day at the plate in a doubleheader against the University of the Ozarks. Hernandez hit .571 with three home runs, four runs scored, and six runs batted in over the course of the two games, including going 3-for-3 with two homers in a game one win in which she also earned the victory on the mound.
Hernandez boasted a 1.857 slugging percentage and a .625 on base percentage, giving her a staggering 2.482 OPS (on base plus slugging) for the day. She is currently batting .632 on the season and has two wins and seven complete games on the mound.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
