Ashley Rice gave the 'Roo women's soccer team a 1-0 victory in the SCAC tournament quarterfinals on Friday in San Antonio.
Ashley Rice, a sophomore on the Kangaroo women's soccer team, tallied her third goal of the season and the biggest goal of her young career in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinals on Friday. The goal gave the 'Roos a 1-0 victory over Southwestern University.
Rice, a midfielder from Colleyville, found the net in the 83rd minute of action after the 'Roos and Pirates had waged a scoreless battle and looked to be heading for overtime. Rice has had two game winning goals this season, and has four goals in her career. This season, her three goals tie her for the second highest total on the team.
The 'Roos finished the 2014 campaign with an overall record of 11-10 and the fourth seed in the SCAC Tournament, bowing to eventual conference champion Trinity in the semifinals on Saturday.
