This Week in AC Athletics, 3/21 - 3/27
No Home Game This Week, Baseball @ UDallas 3/25 & 3/26
Spring Sports are in full swing with the second half of their seasons coming up. Baseball dropped a heartbreaker at the end of their game vs. TLU yesterday, while Head Coach Andrea Vangoss picked up her 50th, 51st, and 52nd victories of her career at AC this past week.
You would have been incredibly proud of our Tennis Teams for the way they played in Belton, TX against UMHB with three more opportunities this year to catch them in action.
Let's begin the recap of our last week here and preview upcoming opportunities to support your Spring Sports Teams. Here is your AC Athletics Update!
Baseball
Baseball has had a tough time with weather these last few weeks, but with a month and a half left in the season, the 'Roos find themselves at 9-11(0-6) with 4 more Weekends of Conference Play and 4 more home stands.
A rematch on the road against University of Dallas begins this Friday, but the next weekend the Kangaroos return home to host Southwestern in a three-game home stand.
- Friday, March 25, 2016
- Away vs. University of Dallas @ 12:00 PM & 3:00 PM
- Saturday, March 26, 2016
- Away vs. University of Dallas @ 1:00 PM
Softball
Softball came away with three huge SCAC wins early in the week this last week, defeating Schreiner University in 3 games out of a 4 game home stand. The first of those victories was the 50th Victory of Head Coach Andrea Vangoss's career!
Congratulations, Coach Vangoss on the first of your many milestones to come in your career. The 'Roos are now 13-15 on the year and 3-9 in Conference Play with one month left in the season before the Conference Championship Tournament.
Men's and Women's Tennis
Men's & Women's Tennis is caught a HUGE win at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor; 6-3 for the Men's Team and 6-3 for the Women's Team.
In what was a hotly contested match, the 'Roos played mentally tough tennis against the Crusaders and earned valuable experience playing in an intense ASC v. SCAC matchup against a competitive opponent.
The Men swept doubles 3-0 (went 0-6 in doubles during 2014-2015 in 2 attempts) and split singles with the Cru with several matches going into "extra innings."
The Women found themselves down 1-2 after doubles and came from behind to win 5 out of 6 singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory. This win makes the Women's Team 3-0 in the last two years against UMHB.
AC is off this next weekend, but get excited for a MONSTER matchup at home against Centenary College and Schreiner University on April 2nd and April 3rd. We would love for you to come out and pack the stands at the Elizabeth Russell Tennis Center for one of the biggest home weekends Austin College has had in recent history.
Softball and Tennis are off this week and Baseball plays on the road, so make sure you get your studies done ahead of time so you have plenty of opportunities to come out and support your Student-Athletes next week in their home contests.
Make sure you continue to follow all the road game action online at ACRoos.com, or on social media (@ACSports).
Thank you, #RooNation, for supporting Austin College Athletics while always remembering to…
Be Loud
Be Proud
Be Positive
GO 'ROOS!
