This Week in AC Athletics, 4/4 - 4/10
Baseball - Home vs. Dallas Christian, 4/8 @ 2 PM & 4 PM
Athletics is hosting NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Week this week, so let's recap the results and preview upcoming opportunities to support your 'Roos. Here is your AC Athletics Update!
Baseball
Baseball opened their 3-game home stand this weekend with a win over Southwestern 8-1. AC gave up an early run in the Top of the 1st inning, but countered with 4 of their own in the Bottom of the 2nd, and never looked back.
Thomas Oberg went 4/4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's in the victory. Josh Lewis recorded the win for the 'Roos, throwing 7 innings, surrendering 2 hits, 1 run, and 5 walks while throwing 4 strikeouts.
The 'Roos will hosted Texas Wesleyan last night and Dallas Christian for two games this Friday. With only 2 home matchups remaining this season after this week, make sure you come on out to the ballgame and cheer on your Kangaroos.

Softball
Softball hosted the University of Dallas Crusaders this weekend and were swept in all 4 games. The first of four went into "extras" as the score was tied 1-1 after the Bottom of the 7th. Dallas (13-14; 8-5) on the year earned 2 runs in the Top of the 8th, to which AC was unable to answer.
The 'Roos travel to San Antonio, TX this weekend to face Trinity, but will be back next weekend to host SCAC Rival Centenary College the following weekend. That will be the last home game opportunity to catch your 'Roos so get your homework done early to cheer on our AC diamond-cutters.

Men's and Women's Tennis
Men's & Women's Tennis had a banner weekend on Saturday & Sunday. The 'Roos swept all 6 doubles lines and 12 singles courts as they rolled over Centenary to move to 1-1 on the year in conference.
On Sunday, the Kangaroos knew they were in for a dog fight. Schreiner rolled into town with the 9-0 (Men), 8-1 (Women), and 5-1 (Men; SCAC) victories from last year fresh in AC's mind. But Austin College gave the Mountaineers all they could handle.
Both teams finished doubles play down 2-1 with Grace Ortiz/Kirsten Weber securing a huge win at Line 1 Doubles over a tough Schreiner tandem, and Daniel Oxenreiter/Jeff Kubena coming back from a late deficit to win a tiebreaker for the Men's team at 9-8 (7-5).
The 'Roos would split the 6 singles matches with the visitors on both the Men's and Women's matches, with the final scores reading 5-4 Schreiner.
Sophomore co-Captain Grace Ortiz would receive SCAC Women's Tennis co-Player of the Week Honors for her victories at Line 1 Doubles and Line 3 Singles.
Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed Faculty, Staff, and Student Appreciation Day here at the College. You could have used your time to do anything last weekend, and you chose to come support our Tennis Teams. Hopefully you all saw something you liked and respected from our play and will come out to support us again in our last home match vs. TLU on Saturday, April 16th @ 1:00 PM.
- Saturday, April 9, 2016
- Away vs. Dallas Baptist @ 10:00 AM (Women) & 1:00 PM (Men)
Baseball is the only team at home this weekend and they play Dallas Christian at 2 & 4 PM on Friday. We hope that you continue to come out and support our 'Roos as opportunities to see us at home become fewer and fewer as the year comes closer to an end.
Don't forget about "Jersey Day," #RooNation. Austin College Student-Athletes will be out and about in their athletic gear on Thursday, April 7th to show their pride for Kangaroo Athletics during NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Week.
Make sure you continue to follow all the action online at ACRoos.com, or on social media (@ACSports). Tennis will have their #liveTweet of all the matches going on as well. Make sure you follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @ACRoosMWTennis.
Thank you, #RooNation, for supporting Austin College Athletics while always remembering to…
Be Loud
Be Proud
Be Positive
GO 'ROOS!
