SHERMAN, Texas - Over the past two weekends, the Austin College Student Athlete Advisory Council has been raising funds for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Today, members of the SAAC presented the Austin College Service Station with a check for more than $1,600.
Spearheaded by the SAAC in the wake of Hurricane Harvey's devastation of Houston and the surrounding area, a fundraising effort was put into motion with the selling of old 'Roo athletics jerseys at home events. Each jersey was sold for a $1 donation, along with any additional donations members of 'Roo nation wished to give. The effort was part of a larger campus movement to support Hurricane Harvey relief, which has culminated this week as part of the college's Helping Harvey's Heroes Week.
100% of the proceeds from the SAAC's hurricane relief efforts will be donated along with additional relief efforts from across campus.
