Spectator Policy for Home Events
Austin College will maintain its institutional policy for all athletics home contests with regard to off-campus visitors and fans. The President's COVID-19 Health Task Force continues to monitor developments as we continue through the spring semester. The home spectator policy is as follows:
- Current students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend home games with a valid Austin College ID and "Green Badge" per the Daily Health Screen.
- No off-campus spectators are allowed at any home contests or practices.
- No off-campus spectators are allowed on any campus property adjacent to playing or practice venues.
- Any persons that are on college property that are not an approved participant related to games or practices may not be on campus. All persons on college property in or adjacent to college property will be told to leave. This includes all green space, sidewalks, and parking lots.
- For away contests, all individuals are encouraged to visit campus information for each institution for specific spectator polices.
FAQ Austin College Athletics Spectator Guidelines
- How will Austin College community members be able to attend a game?
- Current students and Austin College employees must present a valid Austin College ID and "Green Badge" per the Daily Health Screen to be admitted into the venue. All spectators must follow all NCAA and SCAC policies related to safety and sportsmanship.
- No family members of Austin College community members will be allowed if they are not employed or currently attend Austin College.
- Entrance to the venues will open 10 minutes prior to game time, all spectators must leave the venue within 5 minutes at the conclusion of the contest.
- No more than 100 AC community members are allowed at each venue.
- These guidelines are to protect the health and safety of our athletes and our campus community.
- No animals are pets are allowed in any venue.
- Will off-campus visitors be allowed to attend sporting events as spectators?
- Unfortunately no. Parents and other visiting fans (including fans of the opponent school) will NOT be allowed at sporting events.
- Which sporting events allow Austin College students/faculty/staff spectators?
- Baseball
- Softball at Old Settlers Park
- Soccer
- Tennis- Approved AC community members may view the matches from outside the venue through the fence.
- Do any sporting events prohibit all spectators?
- As an indoor sport, volleyball will continue with no spectators allowed. This includes students, faculty and staff, and off-campus visitors.
- What COVID protocols are enforced at Austin College athletic events?
- All approved spectators must follow all NCAA and SCAC policies related to COVID safety and sportsmanship--including wearing masks at all times, even outdoors.
- Social distancing should be maintained with the limited number of spectators and venue capacity limits.
- Baseball at 50 max capacity; Softball at Old Settlers Park facility at 25 max capacity; Soccer at 50 max capacity; and Tennis approved spectators will view the matches from outside the venue fence.
- No more than 100 AC community spectators will be allowed at each venue; most venues allow fewer for social distancing.
- All spectators must sit in designated seating.
- No personal chairs or seating will be allowed.
- Will students or parents from visiting teams be allowed to attend games as spectators?
- Unfortunately no. Off campus visitors are not allowed as spectators at any 'Roo games or practices on the Austin College campus.
- Are masks required for outdoor venues?
- Yes, approved spectators are required to wear masks at all times and encouraged to maintain social distancing.
- Is it possible the restrictions will be lifted further in the weeks ahead?
- The Austin College President's COVID Health Task Force will continue to monitor on a regular basis.
