May, Brown Named Kedric Couch Alumni Coaches of the Year
SHERMAN, Texas - Kyle May and Shayna Clardy Brown have been named the Kedric Couch Alumni Coaches of the Year, Austin College has announced. The two will be honored during Austin College's Legends Weekend on August 7.
SHERMAN, Texas - Kyle May and Shayna Clardy Brown have been named the Kedric Couch Alumni Coaches of the Year, Austin College has announced. The two will be honored during Austin College's Legends Weekend on August 7.
May was a four-year starter at point guard for the Austin College men's basketball team, graduating in 2007 as an All-Conferene performer. He now serves as the head coach at Bishop Lynch, where he has been named the District Coach of the Year in four of the last five seasons including the 2020-21 campaign. This past season, he led Bishop Lynch to the TAPPS 6A state title game and a record of 24-9. Over the course of his career, he has amassed a coaching record of 198-97.
Brown, a 2013 graduate, was a standout guard for the Austin College women's basketball team and earned All-Conference accolades as a senior for the 'Roos. Brown now serves as the head coach at The Woodlands College Park, where she just completed her second season and led the team to an increase of 10 wins this year. After winning seven games during her first year at College Park, Brown guided her team to a 17-9 record and a trip to the state tournament. Under Brown's guidance, College Park finished second in the district with a 7-3 record.
