The winter sports season comes to a close as the spring sports season has seen some schedule shifts with the winter weather throughout the area, as men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, and men's and women's tennis are all in action this weekend both at home and on the road.
The Austin College men's and women's basketball team kick things off on Friday evening with a home doubleheader against Centenary College, with the women taking on the Ladies at 6:00 p.m. while the men follow against the Gents at 8:00 p.m. in Hughey Gym. Both teams return to the court for the final time in 2024-25 on Sunday, hosting the University of the Ozarks with the women tipping off at 1:00 p.m., while the men will be celebrating Senior Day at approximately 3:00 p.m. to close out the season.
The 'Roo baseball team was originally slated to play a home series against Centenary this weekend, but with the extreme winter weather in the region, that series has been shifted to Shreveport with the 'Roos and Gents set to play at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday to wrap up the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series.
Austin College softball is headed out on the road for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, as they travel to Marshall to take on the nation's No. 1-ranked team, East Texas Baptist. That twinbill is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
Finally, the 'Roo men's and women's tennis teams have also seen a shift in their schedule this weekend due to the continued winter weather. Austin College was originally set to play LeTourneau on Friday and ETBU on Saturday, but now instead will head to Longview on Sunday morning for a 9:30 a.m. match, and then get on the bus to Marshall for a 3:00 p.m. match against the Tigers later that afternoon.
