Colunga Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's tennis player Joel Colunga.

Colunga, a sophomore from Edinburg, has been one of the top performers for the Austin College men's tennis team this season, ranking second on the squad in victories picking up singles wins against LeTourneau and Sul Ross, and a doubles victory against Sul Ross as well. Against LeTourneau, he earned a hard-fought three-set win on line four, and his 6-1, 6-4 line three win against the Lobos proved to be the match-clincher in a 4-3 team victory for Austin College. In addition to his performance on the court, Colunga has also been an active member of Austin College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
