HANNAH NATATORIUM: OPEN POOL GUIDELINES
FALL 2020
Hannah Natatorium will be used or Austin College community ONLY. No family members, children, or other guests.
Protocol for Entering Hannah Natatorium
- Prior to entering the locker rooms to change, members of the Austin College community must show their Austin College Self-Assessment Green Badge to the lifeguard who is on duty.
- All Austin College community members must use the QR codes in the lobby of the Mason Center and in Hannah Natatorium dressing areas/lobby.
- All guests must use hand sanitizer, located at the lifeguard desk, prior to entering the locker room.
- There will be no social gathering on the pook deck or lobby at any time.
Operational Guidelines for Open Swim
- All AC community members must wear a mask when entering the Hannah Natatorium Lobby and while walking from the locker room to the pool deck. Members may only remove their mask when immediately entering the pool.
- There will be a limit to 1 person per swim lane for a maximum of 30 minutes.
- Each lane will be on a first come, first serve basis.
- AC community members will not be allowed to cross over lanes to get to a ladder. If someone needs to be in a lane with a ladder, they should wait until one becomes available.
- Lifeguards will keep track of the number of AC community members as they arrive. All members will sign in and out of a daily log using their own pen.
- If all lanes are full, the lifeguard will encourage additional individuals to wait or come back later. If they choose to wait, social distancing will be enforced.
- There will be NO circle swimming. All swimmers must swim down the middle of their lane to maintain social distancing.
- Upon exiting the pool, swimmers must put their mask back on prior to walking to the locker room.
- All swimmers will enter the pool in their specific lane on the lobby side of the deck, and exit the pool from their specific lane on the scoreboard side of the pool (where ladder access is).
- At the start of open swim lifeguards will place circulation fans on the deck to help with airflow. They will return fans to the lifeguard office at the conclusion of open swim.
- AC community members are not permitted to use any AC Aquatics equipment.
Use of Diving Well
- All Austin College community members must wear a mask when entering Hannah Natatorium lobby and while walking from the locker room to the pool deck. Members may only remove their mask when immediately entering the diving well.
- There is a limit of 7 people in the diving well at one time, for a limit of 30 minutes.
- While in the diving well, social distancing must be maintained with swimmers remaining 6 feet apart.
- Anyone in the diving well must exist using the ladder. You may not slide into the swim lanes for any reason.
Use of General Locker rooms
- Locker rooms will be available to guests only if there is an open lane for swimming.
- No towels will be provided, all guests must bring their own.
- There will be a 10-minute limit in locker rooms.
- No items may be left in the locker rooms overnight or during your swim, while swimming all personal items should be placed on a bench on the pool deck (scoreboard side) in a personal bag.
- Only ‘men’ and ‘women’ general locker rooms will be permitted for use. ‘Faculty’ locker room will remain locked.
Hannah Natatorium: Hours of Operation
- Tuesday and Thursday: 11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. / Wednesday 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
- Open swim will start on Tuesday, September 29 and close Thursday, November 19
Lifeguards and student workers have the authority to enforce all rules and protocols. Anyone not following rules and protocols will be told to leave. Failure to leave, lifeguards will be encouraged to call AC Police.
