Dygert Named SCAC Man of the Year Finalist
SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College football player Brady Dygert has been named one of five finalists for the 2024-25 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Man of the Year Award, the league office has announced.
SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College football player Brady Dygert has been named one of five finalists for the 2024-25 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Man of the Year Award, the league office has announced.
Dygert, who graduated this spring after completing an outstanding four-year career for the 'Roo football team, was named the SCAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league and finishing third in the nation in tackles from his linebacker position. A native of Magnolia, Dygert was also named All-Region by D3Football.com following his stellar 2024 campaign, and was Austin College's Pete Cawthon Award winner as the top male student-athlete for the year.
Dygert also earned the 'Roo football program's Gene "Duke" Babb Award as the team's most outstanding player, and was named to Dave Campbell's Non-FBS All-Texas Team, in addition to being a first team All-SCAC selection. Dygert, who graduated with a degree in physics engineering, was a three-time captain for the 'Roos as well as being a three-time member of the SCAC Academic Honor Roll. He was also named as a National Football Foundation College Scholar-Athlete.
Dygert served as the president of Phi Sigma Alpha this past year, and was a member of the Society of Physics Students at Austin College from 2022-25. He has also been published in the Journal of Undergraduate Research in Physics and Astronomy, and a Texas Society of Professional Engineers scholarship recipient. He's also worked with the American Cancer Association, the Soles4Souls Foundation, and Austin College's Great Day of Service, in addition to being a project leader for the Republican Party of Grayson County and participating in the Leadership Workshop at Austin College.
The 2024-25 SCAC Man of the Year Award winner will be announced later this month. Austin College has had one winner previously, with former 'Roo standout football player Madison Ross winning the honor in 2016.
