'Roos Notch First Win of 2025-26 Campaign
JACKSON, Miss. - The Austin College men's basketball team erupted for 104 points, including 60 in the second half to come from behind and topple Belhaven 104-98 for the first win of the year for the 'Roos. Austin College is now 1-3 overall on the hear heading into the Thanksgiving break.

Kidus Getenet poured in 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting, hitting 3-of-5 from long range, and added 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the 'Roos to the win. Jamien June added 24 points, hitting 9-of-17 from the floor and 2-of-3 from distance, and Ethan Pearce picked up his second straight double-double with 20 points and 10 boards. Pearce made 10-of-15 shots in the win, while also adding four steals and three blocked shots. Ryan Dupre came off the bench to hand out a team-high eight assists, and Jordan Hudgins chipped in six points, seven assists, and five rebounds.
After trailing by seven points at halftime, Austin College came storming back with an 11-5 run to pull to within one at 56-55 with 16:46 left in the game. Belhaven pushed the lead back to 69-61 with 14:05 remaining, and after the 'Roos chipped away at the margin again, Belhaven was able to extend it back to 79-71 with 11:31 on the clock. The Belhaven lead was still 88-81 with just under eight minutes left before the 'Roos started their late comeback bid, with a three from June pushing Austin College to a 90-88 advantage at the 5:28 mark.
Belhaven got the lead back at 93-90, but a bucket by Getenet with 3:01 left made it 95-93 in favor of Austin College and the 'Roos wouldn't relinquish that cushion the rest of the way. Austin College finished the game knocking down 55.9% from the field and 10-of-18 threes, and the 'Roos also outscored Belhaven 18-15 from the free throw line. Braylon Dame led Belhaven with 26 points, and Dan Robinson had 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Benjamin Stewart added 16 points with four threes for Belhaven. The 'Roos are back in action next week when they host the University of Dallas on December 3 to open up Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
