In a game featuring 15 ties and 13 lead changes, the final minute proved decisive. Trailing 76-75, Austin College's Kidus Getenet came up with a critical steal with 49 seconds left, stripping the ball from Howard Payne's Trey Jackson. Getenet was fouled on the ensuing possession and calmly sank two free throws to give the 'Roos a 77-76 advantage.
Howard Payne responded when Armonie Ramey split a pair of free throws with 30 seconds remaining to knot the score at 77-77. With time winding down, Austin College turned to Dupre, who drew a foul from Ben Phillip with just two seconds on the clock. After the first-year forward knocked down 1-of-2 attempts from the line, Howard Payne's desperation attempt missed, sealing the victory for the home team.
Dupre led the 'Roos with a career-high 23 points, knocking down 6-of-10 from 3-point range, and added seven rebounds. Getenet posted a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, providing a spark on both ends of the floor. Tasshir Pina-Warren and Jamien June each chipped in 16 points for Austin College. Pina-Warren filled the stat sheet with seven rebounds and a team-high five assists.

Ramey led all scorers with 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, while Phillip added 20 points and five boards.
