Austin College Men Drop SCAC Game to LeTourneau

The 'Roos fall to 3-12 overall and 0-6 in conference play with the loss.

Kidus Getenet led Austin College with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Peyton Gonzales added 11 points and three steals and Jordan Hudgins chipped in 10 points, four boards, and a game-high five assists. igan Edwards scored a game-high 23 points and Logan Brinkoeter recorded a double-double to pace LeTourneau, with Edwards connected on 4-of-8 attempts from three-point range and added seven rebounds and four steals. Brinkoeter finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and two blocks.
The YellowJackets set the tone immediately, opening the game on an 11-0 run fueled by threes from Edwards and Branson Lynn. Austin College struggled to find its offense early, going scoreless for the first four minutes and failing to record a field goal until Getenet hit a triple at the 13:30 mark of the first half. LeTourneau's defensive pressure forced 21 turnovers, which they converted into 16 points. The YellowJackets recorded 12 steals as a team, with Brinkoeter and Edwards combining for nine.
Despite trailing 38-24 at halftime, the 'Roos showed life in the second half. A three-pointer by Getenet with 13:03 remaining cut the deficit to single digits at 44-36, and Gonzales scored with just over nine and a half minutes left to trim the lead to 49-46. However, LeTourneau responded with a 9-0 run across the next two and a half minutes to push it to double-digits at 58-46, and the YellowJackets maintained a double-digit advantage for the remainder of the contest, leading by as many as 20 points late in the game.
The 'Roos shot just 34.5% from the field and 5-of-22 from beyond the arc. LeTourneau finished shooting 45.6% from the floor and made 10 3-pointers. Austin College dominated the glass in the second half but couldn't overcome the turnover disparity, and the YellowJackets outscored the 'Roos 30-28 in the paint.
