AUSTIN, Texas – Despite a 27 point effort from Kidus Getenet, the Austin College men's basketball team could not keep pace with a high-powered Concordia University Texas offense, falling 110–90 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Sunday afternoon at the Concordia Fieldhouse. The loss drops the 'Roos to 6-15 overall and 3-9 in conference play, while the Tornados improve to 17-3.
The 'Roos showed early resilience, briefly taking an 11–10 lead following a fast-break three-pointer by Getenet at the 16:50 mark of the first half. The two teams traded leads four times in the opening period, but Concordia used a relentless transition game and defensive pressure to pull away. A layup by Silas Livingston with 2:42 remaining in the half gave the Tornados a double-digit advantage they would not relinquish, eventually heading into the locker room with a 59–42 lead.
Austin College attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, cutting the deficit to 68–59 after Ethan Pearce converted a second-chance layup with 14:26 remaining. However, Concordia responded with a decisive run fueled by Percy Green, who finished with 27 points. The Tornados' depth proved to be the difference, as their bench outscored the 'Roo reserves 60–23.
Getenet scored his 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including four three-pointers. Tasshir Pina-Warren added 22 points and five rebounds, while Jamien June contributed 13 points. Jordan Hudgins anchored the glass for the 'Roos, pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds.
For Concordia, Green was supported by Joey Ramirez, who scored 15 points, and Anariss Brandon, who added 13 points and four steals. The Tornados capitalized on 31 Austin College turnovers, converting them into 33 points.
The 'Roos shot 45.7% from the field and connected on 10-of-21 attempts from beyond the arc but struggled at the free-throw line, finishing 16-of-29. Defensively, Austin College recorded six blocks, with Pearce accounting for four to go along with his 12 points and nine rebounds.
