Men's Soccer Drops Non-Conference Match to UMHB
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season on Saturday evening at the Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Field, falling 3-0 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in non-conference action. The 'Roos are now 1-1-1 on the year.

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season on Saturday evening at the Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Field, falling 3-0 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in non-conference action. The 'Roos are now 1-1-1 on the year.
The match was scoreless through the first two-thirds of the opening half until the Crusaders tallied in the 30th minute to take a 1-0 lead, with Rhett Rapuzzi finding the back of the net for what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Mary Hardin-Baylor tacked on one more tally before halftime, as Yannis Benae scored at the 40:58 mark, making it a 2-0 game heading into the break. The Crusaders out-shot the 'Roos 7-1 in the first 45 minutes of action.
The score remained 2-0 until late, when UMHB scored one more insurance goal in the 84th minute off the foot of Alex Bethke, and Austin College was unable to counter in the game's closing minutes of action. Austin College came to life offensively in the second half, getting off four shots to six for UMHB, but were unable to find the back of the net. Erik Beijen made two saves for Austin College, as UMHB put five shots on target, while Mack Elliott stopped the lone shot on goal for the 'Roos.
