It was a defensive struggle throughout, as neither team was able to generate many scoring chances with just 13 combined shots for the two sides in the game. After 30 scoreless minutes, the 'Roos picked up what proved to be the game-winner, as Colin Nguyen put one in the back of the net at the 30:36 mark to make it a 1-0 game, and that ended up being enough thanks to a stellar defensive performance from Austin College.
Austin College finished the game with only six shots, four of which were put on target, while McMurry had seven shots, with six of those attempts coming after halftime. Only two of the attempts by the War Hawks were on frame, as Patrick Bassett made stops on both to earn the clean sheet. Jose Sanchez had three saves for McMurry in the loss. Austin College will be looking to pick up another SCAC victory on Sunday, as they head to Kerrville to face off against Schreiner University at 2:00 p.m.
