'Roos Clinch SCAC Tournament Berth
CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - For the first time since 2019, the Austin College men's soccer team is headed to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament after a 1-0 road victory on Sunday at the University of the Ozarks locked up a spot in the postseason field. The 'Roos are now 7-5-3 overall and 6-2-2 in conference play.

The 'Roos are now 7-5-3 overall and 6-2-2 in conference play.
There wasn't much action offensively throughout Sunday's game, with Austin College managing just three shots while Ozarks had only five attempts. Austin College got two of its shots in the first half and made the most of them, with Luis Garza-Rios finding the back of the net for the fifth time this season on a feed from Marco Guzman at the 32:38 mark. That sent the 'Roos into halftime leading 1-0, and that ended up being all the cushion that keeper Patrick Bassett and the Austin College defense would need.
Bassett made two saves to earn the clean sheet, while Maksym Maliutenko took the loss in goal for Ozarks after giving up one goal while making one saves in 45 minutes of action. The win puts the 'Roos into fourth place in the SCAC standings heading into the final week of regular season competition, with Austin College hosting LeTourneau on Halloween in the final game before the tournament. The 'Roos will be celebrating Senior Night prior to the game, with kickoff scheduled for approximately 8:00 p.m. at the Pierce Soccer Complex.
