Austin College Swimming Sweeps AC Invite
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept the team titles at the 2026 Austin College Invite on Saturday, delivering a dominant showing against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foes McMurry University and Centenary College at Hannah Natatorium Natatorium.
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept the team titles at the 2026 Austin College Invite on Saturday, delivering a dominant showing against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foes McMurry University and Centenary College at Hannah Natatorium Natatorium.
The 'Roos controlled the meet from the opening horn, with the men's team securing first place with 590 points, topping McMurry (516) and Centenary (363). The women's squad claimed the top spot with 334 points, holding off Centenary (286) and McMurry (272).
Sophia Smith anchored the women's team with a hat trick of individual victories. Smith touched first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.38, establishing a new Austin College womens' program record, and won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:17.04, before capping her day by taking the 200-yard individual medley in 2:19.30. On the men's side, Flyn Hughes was a double-winner in the butterfly events. Hughes claimed the 200-yard butterfly in 2:04.97 and followed up with a victory in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 55.31.
Austin College opened the meet with a sweep of the 400-yard medley relays. The women's quartet of Tatyana Arizmendi, Mikayla Arizmendi, Lili Clepper, and Rachel Delk combined for a winning time of 4:35.82. The men's team of Hudson Seavers-Reale, Matthew Leeworthy, Tim Smith, and Kamil Murugan took gold with a time of 3:43.64. Tatyana Arizmendi added two individual wins to her relay gold, taking top honors in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.23) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:49.37). Mikayla Arizmendi also found the top of the podium, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 2:22.98.
The 'Roos saw strong performances across the men's roster. Hudson Seavers-Reale sprinted to a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.05 , while Kamil Murugan secured the 100-yard freestyle title in 49.81. In the longer distances and specialty strokes, JonAustin Blaine won the men's 200-yard backstroke (2:19.80) , and Matthew Leeworthy claimed the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.19). Timothy Smith added a victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.81. The Austin College women closed the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Delk, Smith, Tatyana Arizmendi, and Joslyn Dimitri finished in 1:51.64.
