Austin College Climbs Rankings on Day Two of SCAC Meet
GARLAND, Texas – The Austin College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams continued their pursuit of conference honors on Thursday, moving up the standings during the second day of the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Garland ISD Natatorium.

The 'Roos women's program climbed into fourth place overall with 127 total points through 12 events. In the championship final of the 200-yard individual medley, Sophia Smith claimed a third-place finish with a time of 2:15.69. Joslyn Dimitri also earned a spot in a championship final, taking seventh in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:33.94.
In relay action, the women's team of Tatyana Arizmendi, Dimitri, Smith, and Lili Clepper secured a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, touching the wall in 4:13.91. Another Austin College relay squad, consisting of Rachel Delk, Lola Barcus-Schafer, Mikayla Arizmendi, and Reese Richmond, placed 11th in the same event with a time of 4:29.64.
The women's 50-yard freestyle saw individual contributions from Delk, who finished 14th at 26.59, and Clepper, who took 16th with a time of 27.08. Additionally, Tatyana Arizmendi finished 12th in the 200-yard individual medley consolation final at 2:22.04.
The Austin College men also saw a boost in the standings, finishing the day in fifth place with 145 points. Owen Altermatt led the way in the 500-yard freestyle championship final, taking eighth place with a time of 4:51.41. Timothy Smith also reached a championship final, placing seventh in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:02.70.
The men's 400-yard medley relay team of Hudson Seavers-Reale, Matthew Leeworthy, Flyn Hughes, and Kamil Murugan finished fourth overall with a time of 3:34.69. The relay team of JonAustin Blaine, Theodore Rogers, Carlos Camarena, and Altermatt finished 13th in the same event, clocking in at 3:50.71.
Other men's highlights included Kamil Murugan finishing 11th in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.08, followed by Hughes in 14th at 22.46 and Seavers-Reale in 16th at 24.49. In consolation finals, Rogers took 14th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.92, while Leeworthy placed 16th in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:12.90.
The 'Roos will return to the pool on Friday for day three prelims beginning at 10:30 a.m., and finals taking place at 5:45 p.m.
