'Roos Earn Walk-Off Win Over Hendrix
DENISON, Texas - The Austin College softball team rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory against Hendrix College on Friday night at Texoma Health Foundation Park. The 'Roos are now 10-21 overall and 8-19 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos are now 10-21 overall and 8-19 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Trailing 4-3 entering the final frame, the 'Roos sparked a comeback. Jadyn Myers led off the inning with a single and stole second base. Tori Fowler followed with a bunt single to advance Myers to third, and then stole second to put two Austin College runners in scoring position. Emma Freiermuht delivered the game-winning blow, hitting a two-run single that scored Myers and Fowler to seal the win for Austin College.
The 'Roos originally jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Myers and Fowler started the rally with back-to-back singles and pulled off a double steal. After Freiermuht reached base safely, Cheyenne Fields drove in Myers with a single. Tessa Contreras then singled to bring home Freiermuht and Fowler.
Hendrix answered back with a run in the fourth inning when Rylee Harris hit a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Tori Maldonado. The visitors then took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Kaycee Schoen that scored Ella Boling and Bell Jaramillo.
Several 'Roos had multi-hit performances to power the offense. Contreras, Fields, Myers, and Fowler each recorded two hits, with Myers and Fowler also scoring twice and stealing two bases apiece. Freiermuht and Contreras each drove in two runs. For Hendrix, Schoen led the way with three runs batted in on her home run, and Harris added a triple.
Cassidy Cantera threw a complete game for Austin College to earn the victory. She allowed four runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits while striking out two batters. Emma Salis took the loss for Hendrix, allowing five runs on 10 hits while striking out six across six innings of work.
