JACKSON, Miss. - The Austin College women's basketball team stayed unbeaten on the year, using stifling defense for a 67-38 victory against Millsaps on Saturday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 4-0 on the year.
The 'Roos forced 23 turnovers and limited the Majors to just 26.4% shooting, including 16.7% from beyond the arc, breaking open a tightly contested first quarter by holding Millsaps to just six points in the second to make it 32-19 at the break. Austin College outscored Millsaps by eight points in each of the final two quarters to pull away and earn the big road victory.
Ally Longaker reached double figures for the third time in four games, coming up just shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds to lead the way. Longaker knocked down 8-of-13 shots and added two steals and two blocks. Ann Savage added 14 points and matched her career high with eight rebounds, as well as coming away with three steals and handing out three assists. Kacie West chipped in 11 points and Addison Walling led the way with five assists, as Austin College assisted on 19 of 25 made baskets in the game.
Austin College will be back in action on Sunday when they take on Hendrix for the second time in eight days to close out the Millsaps Classic. The 'Roos topped the Warriors topped the Warriors 95-53 at home on November 23, and will tip off on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
