Saleigh Berry paced the 'Roos in her debut with the program, scoring 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting as the lone Austin College player to notch double digits in the scoring column. Avory Miller chipped in eight points and Trinity Williams and Taiyla Williams each added six. Emma Potts led Austin College on the glass, grabbing seven rebounds, though the Pirates outrebounded the 'Roos 36-28 in the game.
Southwestern shot 41.2% from the field and 30.8% from three point range while also outscoring Austin College 13-6 at the free throw line, and the 'Roos hit just 30.2% overall and were 3-of-18 on three point attempts collectively. Austin College and the Pirates went back and fourth in the opening quarter with Southwestern taking a slim 16-15 lead, but the Pirates out-paced the 'Roos 18-9 in the second to push the margin to 34-24 at the break and Austin College was unable to climb out of that halftime deficit.
Neela Castillo led Southwestern with game-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Kylee Symons chipped in 15 points and seven boards for the Pirates. Austin College will be looking to bounce back at home next week, as they host Lyon College at 7:00 p.m. on November 14.
