Women's Basketball Falls to Millsaps
JACKSON, Miss. - The Austin College women's basketball team overcame a double-digit first quarter deficit but ran out of steam in the final period of play, as the 'Roos fell 56-44 at Millsaps College in the team's opening game at the Millsaps Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 2-2 overall on the year.

The 'Roos are now 2-2 overall on the year.
Lexi Martin was the lone 'Roo to notch double figures in the scoring column in the game, scoring 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three point range. Martin scored all of Austin College's points in the opening quarter as the 'Roos fell behind 18-8 through one, and the margin grew to 21-8 early in the second before Martin scored five more, giving her the first 13 points of the game for Austin College, to cut it to 21-13. The 'Roos eventually went into the locker room trailing 32-24.
After the Majors pushed it to a 38-26 game early in the third, Austin College used a 13-0 run to surge ahead 39-38 before Millsaps regained the lead and took a 41-39 game into the fourth. Grace Moothart hit a three to keep it close at 45-42 and Emma Potts scored with 7:53 left to cut it to 46-44, but the 'Roos went cold offensively for the remainder of the game, missing their last 16 shot attempts in the game as the Majors pulled away to secure the win.
Martin added four steals and three rebounds, while Avory Miller grabbed 12 rebounds, handed out six assists, and chipped in eight points in the loss and Trinity Wlliams pulled down 11 rebounds. Elyse Warren led Millsaps, who improve to 5-1, with 20 points and 19 rebounds.
