'Roos Drop SCAC Matchup at Colorado College

Brooklyn Matthews led Austin College with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Avory Miller was the only other 'Roo to reach double figures, adding 10 points and five boards. Both teams struggled offensively in a defensive battle, with Austin College shooting 29.8% (17-of-57) from the field and Colorado College shooting just 28.0% (14-of-50). The difference in the game came at the free-throw line, where the Tigers converted 24-of-30 attempts compared to 11-of-15 for the 'Roos.
Colorado College held a slim 12-10 lead after the first quarter and extended that margin to 26-19 by halftime. The Tigers' defense limited Austin College to just 11 points in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. For Colorado College, Rayna Welsch led the way with 14 points and six rebounds, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Illiana Greene added 13 points off the bench, hitting 8-of-10 free throws, while Kayla Mackel chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds. Maya Dodson contributed nine points for the 'Roos, and Trinity Williams added five points and three rebounds.
Austin College will look to bounce back on Sunday, when they head to Houston to take on St. Thomas in another conference tilt.
