Hot Shooting Propels 'Roos Past Warriors

The Warriors had entered the evening just ahead of the 'Roos atop the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Blue Division standings.
The 'Roos (8-8, 5-2) used a blistering shooting performance from beyond the arc and a stifling third-quarter defensive effort to hand the Warriors (8-7, 4-3) the conference loss. Austin College shot 51.7% from three-point range (15-of-29) while holding Hendrix to just 23.6% shooting from the field.
Dodson was efficient throughout the contest, shooting 7-of-9 from the floor, with all her attempts coming from deep. She also added four rebounds and three assists. Trinity Williams joined her in double figures with 12 points, connecting on 4-of-6 attempts from downtown, while adding five rebounds and two blocks. Christen Campbell provided a spark off the bench with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Austin College seized control early, closing the first quarter on a tear. With the score tied 5-5 at the 8:05 mark, the 'Roos outscored the Warriors 21-8 over the remainder of the period. Dodson capped the opening quarter with a 40-footer just before the buzzer, giving Austin College a 26-13 advantage. The 'Roos took a 43-25 lead into halftime before putting the game out of reach in the third quarter. Austin College's defense was impenetrable coming out of the break, holding Hendrix to just four points in the period. The Warriors went 0-for-16 from the field in the third quarter, scoring only from the free-throw line.
Meanwhile, Austin College kept the offense rolling. A triple by Taiyla Williams at the 5:00 mark extended the lead to 54-26. By the time the fourth quarter began, the 'Roos held a dominant 62-29 advantage. The lead grew as large as 41 points midway through the fourth quarter following a jumper by Makayla Beckett with 5:49 remaining.
For Hendrix, Riley Brady was a force on the glass, pulling down a game-high 16 rebounds to go with her seven points. Lyndi Bryan led the Warriors in scoring with eight points, while Chloey-Rei Brown added seven. Austin College dominated the ball movement, recording 20 assists on 28 made field goals, led by Lexi Martin with four assists. The 'Roos also controlled the defensive glass, securing 38 defensive rebounds to limit Hendrix's second-chance opportunities.
