Miller Leads 'Roos to Fourth Straight Win

The victory is the fourth in a row for Austin College, and moves the 'Roos to 9-8 overall and 6-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Miller connected on 6-of-15 shots from the field and added two blocks and two steals for the 'Roos, who used a decisive second-quarter surge to pull away. Amarys Cuellar provided a spark off the bench, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting while dishing out a game-high four assists. Lila Hartness led Ozarks with 15 points and nine rebounds. Hartness was efficient from the perimeter, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range.
Austin College held a slim 12-8 lead after a defensive first quarter but broke the game open in the second. The 'Roos outscored the Eagles 28-12 in the period, shooting 71.4% (10-of-14) from the floor in the frame. A three by Maya Dodson with 0.5 seconds remaining in the half capped the run, sending the hosts into the locker room with a commanding 40-20 advantage.
The 'Roos extended their lead in the third quarter, pushing the margin to 26 points - the largest of the game - at 48-22 on a Trinity Williams three-pointer with 5:20 on the clock. Williams finished with eight points and three rebounds. The Eagles struggled to find an offensive rhythm for much of the night, shooting just 21.4% from the field. However, they clamped down defensively in the fourth quarter, holding Austin College to just seven points on 2-of-14 shooting. Ozarks closed the game on a 15-7 run but could not overcome the early deficit.
Brooklyn Matthews anchored the Austin College defense with a game-high three blocks and nine rebounds. Lexi Martin added eight points, hitting two three-pointers. For Ozarks, Kennedi Wight chipped in six points and three steals. Austin College converted 19 turnovers by the Eagles into 14 points to help secure th victory.
