Women's Soccer Blanked by Cal Lutheran

The Austin College women's soccer team fell 4-0 to visiting California Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon, with the Regals scoring two goals in each half to hand the 'Roos the loss. The 'Roos are now 1-3 on the year with the defeat.

Cal Lutheran jumped on top early on when Alli Calabrese found the net just six minutes into the game on a feed from Kristina Hulse, and Calabrese added her second tally less than six minutes later on an assist from Brittany Eremita to send the Regals into the half leading the 'Roos 2-0.

That remained the score until the 71st minute of action, when Julie Kearns scored to make it a 3-0 game, and Hulse notched her second assist of the game when she found Katelyn Kimball for a score in the 89th minute to make it a 4-0 final. Cal Lutheran out-shot the 'Roos 14-3 overall in the game, including a 6-0 edge in shots on goal.

Franchesca Lozoya made six saves in the net for Austin College. The 'Roos will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Shreveport to face Centenary in the team's first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the season.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
