Austin College held a 2-1 halftime lead, but two second half goals for Southwestern led to a 3-2 loss for the 'Roo women's soccer team on Friday night in Georgetown. The 'Roos are now 2-9-2 overall and 1-5-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
The Pirates struck first with a goal in the 6th minute of action, but Ashley Rice scored on an assist from Erin Eckart in the 12th minute to square things up. The 'Roos took a 2-1 lead in the 34th minute when Hannah Poenisch scored on a free kick to send Austin College into halftime with a one goal lead.
The Pirates tallied in the 49th minute to even the score, and a 73rd minute goal off of a corner kick put Southwestern on top for good. The Pirates held a 14-9 shot advantage in the match, and Laura McGee made three saves for the 'Roos.
