'Roos Earn Road Victory at Schreiner
KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team picked up its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Schreiner University 2-1 on a dramatic last minute goal by Laney Lambert. The 'Roos are now 4-4-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team picked up its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Schreiner University 2-1 on a dramatic last minute goal by Laney Lambert. The 'Roos are now 4-4-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The game was scoreless until midway through the second half, despite Austin College firing nine shots in the opening frame. It wasn't until the 69:20 mark that Austin College was able to break through and get on the scoreboard, as Rylie Balderas found Jetta Broquard for the tally to make it 1-0. However, the lead only lasted 10 minutes before Schreiner's Katelyn Boyd found the back of the net to even things up. However, with just 1:12 left on the clock, Lambert scored the game-winner off of an assist by Ivianna Pacheco, and Austin College's defense held the Mountaineers at bay in the closing moments.
Austin College finished the game with a 17-6 advantage in shots, including 8-3 in shots on goal. Kieran McFarland earned the clean sheet for Austin College, making a pair of saves, while Emilie Novasad had six saves for Schreiner.
