SHERMAN, Texas - Lauren Olivier has resigned from her position as head coach of the Austin College men's and women's swim teams in order to pursue other professional opportunities, athletics director David Norman has announced. Olivier served as the head coach of the 'Roos for the 2024-25 season after having previously been a record-setting swimmer for Austin College.
"Lauren did an outstanding job leading our program this past year," said Norman. "She was able to guide our team to some terrific successes, including several record-breaking performances, and she will be missed within the department. We wish her the very best in all of her future endeavors."
Olivier was both a standout swimmer and All-America water polo player for the 'Roos before serving last year as a graduate assistant at Carthage College, returning to Sherman to coach her alma mater as the youngest coach in all of NCAA swimming this past season. Under her direction, three Austin College men's swim records fell this season, while multiple swimmers garnered All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference recognition at this year's championship meet.
"It's bittersweet to say goodbye to Lauren as our head coach," said incoming athletics director Michelle Filander. "We're excited for whatever the future holds for her, but will miss her passion for Austin College athletics and the work she did to help our student-athletes improve day in and day out. As an Austin College alumna, former student-athlete, and coach, she will always be a part of 'Roo Nation."
A comprehensive national search will begin immediately to find the next head coach for Austin College men's and women's swimming, Filander announced.
