Women's Silver in 200-Medley Relay Highlights Day One of SCAC Championships
GARLAND, Texas – The Austin College men’s and women’s swim eams completed the first day of action at the 2026 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Wednesday at the Garland ISD Natatorium. Both programs saw strong relay performances as the four-day event got underway.

The 'Roo women sit in sixth place in the team standings after day one with a total of 46 points. The relay team of Tatyana Arizmendi, Joslyn Dimitri, Sophia Smith, and Lili Clepper secured a podium finish in the 200-yard medley relay, taking second place with a time of 1:53.31. In the same event, the team of Rachel Delk, Lola Barcus-Schafer, Mikayla Arizmendi, and Reese Richmond finished 11th overall, touching the wall in 2:00.62.
On the men's side, Austin College ended the first day of competition in fifth place with 70 points. The 200-yard medley relay team, consisting of Hudson Seavers-Reale, Matthew Leeworthy, Flyn Hughes, and Kamil Murugan, finished fifth with a time of 1:37.67. The relay squad of JonAustin Blaine, Theodore Rogers, Carlos Camarena, and Owen Altermatt added to the team score by placing 11th with a time of 1:39.80.
The 'Roos also competed in the 800-yard freestyle relay, where the team of Altermatt, Murugan, Timothy Smith, and Hughes finished fourth with a time of 7:15.95. Competition continues Thursday morning with preliminary rounds, followed by the finals beginning at 6:00 p.m.
