SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College women's tennis team has several players seeded among the top eight at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, and the 'Roos will be looking to make history this weekend. The regionals get underway Friday morning at the event, hosted by Trinity University.
The duo of Melody Duong and Diana Carvajalino enter as one of the top doubles teams in the Flight A tournament, and received a bye in the first round. They will be in action at 2:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, facing a team from either Schreiner or Southwestern. Winning that match would propel them into the tournament quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.
Carvajalino and Duong are also in action in singles competition on Friday morning, as are Kirsten Weber and Anna Sergiovanni. All four are competing in the Flight A tournament. A win this morning would send each to another match at approximately 10:00 a.m., with that match setting the path to the quarterfinals on Saturday.
