Women's Tennis Notches First Win as 'Roos Split at McMurry
ABILENE, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams took the court for a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match at McMurry University on Saturday, with the women coming out on top 6-1 for their first win of the year while the men fell by that same score to the War Hawks.

Austin College's women's team earned an early point through doubles, with Elizabeth Mojica and Abby Sadler earning a 6-3 line one win while the teams of Olivia Sanchez and Emma Davidson, as well as Lauren Hofeldt and Ashlyn Alexander, won lines two and three by default.
Sanchez was downed 6-4, 6-0 playing line one in singles action for McMurry's lone point in the match, while Hofeldt earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory on the second line. Austin College got wins by default on lines three through six, with Davidson, Alexander, Sadler, and Lauren Walker getting credit for the wins at those flights, respectively.
On the men's team, Joel Colunga and Jace Warner got a 7-5 win on line three in doubles, but McMurry came away with the point after Cameron McIver and Timothy Wallace fell 6-2 on line one and Patrick Fenner and Wyatt Fischer were topped 6-3 on line two.
Wallace earned a hard-fought point for the 'Roos on line five, winning 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), but the 'Roos were downed in each of the rest of their singles matches as the War Hawks finished the day with the overall victory. McIver was topped 6-2, 6-0 on line one and Colunga fell 6-2, 6-2 on line two. Fischer dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match at line three, while Fenner fell 6-4, 0-6 (1-6) on line four and Warner was defeated 6-4, 3-6 (3-10) on line six.
