'Roo Volleyball Wraps Weekend Trip to Memphis with 1-2 Record
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Austin College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Webster University and Rhodes College on Friday in Memphis, before sweeping Lyon on Saturday morning to finish their first road trip of the year. The 'Roos now have an overall record of 5-2 on the season.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Austin College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Webster University and Rhodes College on Friday in Memphis, before sweeping Lyon on Saturday morning to finish their first road trip of the year. The 'Roos now have an overall record of 5-2 on the season.
In their first match on Friday, the 'Roos lost a tough 3-1 contest to Webster. The 'Roos started strong with a 25-17 victory in the first set before dropping the next three sets by close margins of 25-22, 26-24, and 25-23. The offensive effort was led by Madisin Hartsfield and Rachel Sadler, who each had nine kills in the match. Katie Riemer had 20 assists, while Madison Manning added 17. The defense was led by Laynie Kovacs and Manning, who each had 12 digs. Kovacs led the team in service aces with four.
In the second game of the day on Friday, Austin College fell to Rhodes 3-1. The 'Roos won the first set 25-17, but the Lynx took the next three sets 25-22, 25-20, and 29-27. Sadler led the 'Roos with 15 kills, while Selah Coleman and Samantha Graham had 11 and eight kills, respectively. Riemer led the 'Roos in assists with 20, and Manning was right behind with 19. On the defensive end, Kovacs led the team with 29 digs. The blocking was a team effort with Hartsfield and Perry leading with five blocks each. Sadler and Kovacs each had a team-high two service aces in the match.
On Saturday morning, the 'Roos bounced back and closed out their road trip with a dominant 3-0 victory over Lyon with set scores of 25-20, 25-10, and 25-13. The 'Roos' offense hit at a .275 clip for the match, with the offense powered by Mia Johnson and Graham, who had eight and six kills, respectively. Manning led the team with 11 assists, and Riemer added nine. Kovacs had a game-high 11 digs, while Hartsfield and Lindi Perry each had three blocks in the win. Johnson and Riemer led the team in service aces with four each.
