Volleyball Earns Two Big SCAC Wins
CONWAY, Ark. - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a pair of important Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference wins on Saturday, topping Texas Lutheran 3-1 before besting Concordia Texas 3-0. The 'Roos are now 14-7 overall and 8-3 in conference play.

CONWAY, Ark. - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a pair of important Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference wins on Saturday, topping Texas Lutheran 3-1 before besting Concordia Texas 3-0. The 'Roos are now 14-7 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
The 'Roos dropped the opening set against Texas Lutheran 25-23, but battled back to take a 26-24 set two win before clinching the match with 25-19 and 25-20 victories in sets three and four.
After hitting just 0.130 in the opening set, the 'Roos hit better than .212 in each of the next three on their way to the win, finishing with a .231 percentage as a team while TLU was limited to .148 in the match. Selah Coleman had a huge contest for the 'Roos, finishing with 15 kills and a .308 hitting percentage, while adding 14 digs. Madisin Hartsfield added 11 kills and three total blocks, and Samantha Graham and Rachel Sadler each chipped in nine kills. Laynie Kovacs posted a team-high 21 digs, and Madison Manning paced the 'Roos with 20 assists while adding seven digs. Katie Riemer had 18 assists, 12 digs, and three service aces for Austin College.
Austin College took down Concordia in three sets but it was a hardfought win, taking the opening set 25-22 before battling to wins of 28-26 and 26-24 to seal the match victory. The 'Roos hit .256 as a team, compared to .176 for the Tornados, with Sadler and Coleman each posting 10 kills, and Sadler adding 11 digs and two service aces while Coleman had eight digs and three aces. Lindi Perry finished with eight kills, and Graham and Hartsfield each chipped in six. Manning paced the 'Roos with 17 assists, and Kovacs had 19 digs to go along with 11 assists.
