Austin College Falls to Colorado College in SCAC Quarterfinals
KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team saw its season come to a close in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday morning, falling 3-1 to Colorado College. The 'Roos end the year with an overall record of 19-12.
KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team saw its season come to a close in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday morning, falling 3-1 to Colorado College. The 'Roos end the year with an overall record of 19-12.
The 'Roos, who entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed, fell behind 2-0 to the No. 5-seeded Tigers, as Colorado College won the first two by scores of 25-19 and 25-15. Austin College battled back to force a fourth set with a 26-24 win in the third, but Colorado College secured its trip to the semifinals with a 25-18 fourth set victory. The Tigers finished the match hitting .208 as a team, compared to .125 for the 'Roos, and had 10 service aces to just two for the 'Roos. Austin College dominated at the net with 15 total blocks, while the Tigers had six.
Selah Coleman led the way in the final match of her collegiate career, finishing with 18 kills and a .295 hitting percentage, and Rachel Sadler added 10 kills and 14 digs. Samantha Graham chipped in five block assists, four kills, and three digs, and Madisin Hartsfield had a match-high six total blocks. Madison Manning paced the 'Roos with 18 assists and tied with Laynie Kovacs for the team-high of 19 digs, and Katie Riemer chipped in 10 assists and seven digs in the loss.
