Women's Water Polo Tops No. 9 La Verne
ORANGE, Calif. - The No. 7-ranked Austin College women's water polo team took on No. 9-ranked La Verne in a national top 10 showdown on Saturday, with the 'Roos coming out on top with a dominant 21-14 victory to wrap up their weekend at the Convergence Invite with two wins in three games.

Joslyn Dimitri wrapped up a stellar weekend with six goals and a pair of assists to lead Austin College to the win, as the 'Roos held a narrow 3-2 lead after the opening quarter before extending the margin to 9-6 at halftime. The 'Roos took full control in the third, scoring eight times to push the margin to 17-10. Austin College's second half dominance continued into the fourth, as Sophia King, Ashlyn Thomas, and Clara Koenig each scored early to make it a 20-10 game and put the game out of reach, with Koenig's goal being the team's 20th with exactly four minutes left to play.
After three quick goals from La Verne, Koenig tallied again with 23 seconds left before the Leopards tacked on a last second score to make it a 21-14 final. Dimitri added three steals and five drawn exclusions in the win, and Koenig scored four times while adding two helpers. Camila Diarte dished out a game-high four assists while adding two tallies of her own, and Mikhaela Torres had three assists to go with a goal. King and Thomas each found the back of the cage twice, and Bianca Gallegos, Morgan Evans, Connie Garcia, and Caroline Armstrong rounded out the scoring for the 'Roos.
